A national music festival facing difficulties has experienced a data breach that has affected numerous ticketholders following the controversial departure of multiple headline acts. Mere hours before the inaugural opening of the Pandemonium Rocks music festival in Melbourne, a distressing incident unfolded, leaving countless music enthusiasts in a state of shock. The inadvertent exposure of their highly sensitive bank information caused widespread concern and alarm.
The cancellation of several prominent headline acts exposed the personal information of 400 ticketholders, including names, bank details, email addresses, and phone numbers, when they requested partial refunds. The festival organisers revealed the sensitive data for one hour and thirty-three minutes on Friday evening.
“All people within that time frame who filled out the (refund) form will be contacted by Pandemonium directly asap to notify them that their data was made public during that window and to advise their banks to update their information,” the statement said.
“We are sincerely sorry for the angst this has caused.”
The festival’s release of their confidential information outraged the impacted customers. They had shared this information in hopes of getting refunds for the significantly scaled-down line-up. Just under two weeks before the inaugural event, four prominent headline acts unexpectedly pulled out of the Pandemonium Festival, providing ticketholders with a partial refund of $70.
Popular acts Placebo, Deep Purple, the Dead Kennedys, and Palaye Royale left attendees greatly disappointed when they withdrew from the recently launched festival. Out of the 13 bands originally scheduled, a surprising seven of them vanished from the highly anticipated line-up.
“I’m fuming. I would never have bought tickets for this line up,” a festival-goer vented on social media.
“I want to see the acts I paid for.”
One individual expressed dissatisfaction with the festival’s management and requested a refund due to the perceived mishandling of the event. They not only made changes to the line-up and venue, but also reduced the festival to a single stage. In spite of the frustration expressed by numerous festival attendees, a multitude of enthusiastic music lovers flocked to the first-ever Pandemonium Rocks event in Melbourne on Saturday.
Footage from the festival captures a vibrant crowd enthusiastically dancing and singing along to the performances of Blondie, Alice Cooper, Wheatus, Psychedelic Furs, and Wolfmother. Sydney, Gold Coast, and Brisbane will host the festival, and Newcastle will host an additional side show.
