NSW energy savings scheme upgrades Strata’s car parks

Strata underground car park owners, and car park owners generally throughout New South Wales, have a golden opportunity to unlock huge savings by updating old, inefficient car park lighting with modern LED car park lighting! The opportunity is available through the NSW Energy Savings Scheme (ESS), a collaboration between the New South Wales state government, equipment manufacturers, energy suppliers, and certified installers (ACPs).

About the NSW car park lighting upgrade rebate

As part of its ongoing commitment to reducing the state’s carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions, the NSW state government offers a series of rebates to eligible businesses throughout NSW. These rebates, part of the NSW Energy Saving Scheme, help offset the cost of expensive upgrades, making it more affordable for businesses to swap out old fixtures and equipment for new, modern energy-efficient models.

Accredited partner Efficient Energy Group CEO Josh Liptak says that under the NSW ESS lighting rebate, his company is able to supply “up to $10,000 worth of new energy-efficient LED lighting to strata underground car parks at no cost to the owner, although they will need to pay the installation costs. However, we’re currently offering a $0 upfront installation deal.”

Liptak, however, adds that while this “amazing opportunity to unlock huge savings on LED lighting upgrades is still available, we’re not sure for how much longer. I would therefore urge underground car park owners with old lighting to consider their upgrade options and see if they are eligible to do it under the ESS. LED lights – A cheaper, environmentally friendlier option for underground car park lighting

Liptak further points out that “LED lights are not only more environmentally friendly because they use significantly less energy than older car park lighting, but they also produce far more light per watt. You can, for example, easily replace a 76W fluorescent tube with a 26W LED tube without sacrificing any light quality whatsoever. In fact, LEDs typically produce better-quality light (and last 25 times longer). Similarly, a 100W LED high bay can replace a 400W metal halide, while an 8–12W LED produces as much light as a 60W incandescent globe. They really are that efficient and can potentially reduce lighting costs by as much as 70%! ”
