The Western Australia Police Force recently announced a major information and communication technology (ICT) tender. The force considers this tender to be one of the largest technology procurements in Australia, showcasing their commitment to advancing their technological capabilities. This effort aims to greatly improve the operational systems and devices used by frontline officers.

The Force is striving to strengthen its technology framework and improve its service delivery and operational efficiency by reaching out to leading ICT providers around the world. The tender highlights the use of technological advancements to enhance and strengthen frontline policing functions throughout the state.
Executive Director Frank Pasquale of the WA Police Force highlighted the significance of this endeavour, emphasising, “Technology continues to develop at a rapid pace, and it’s essential that we provide our dedicated officers with the latest devices, systems, and software.” WA Police aims to enhance their capabilities by integrating cutting-edge technologies and improving system interoperability with a significant tender worth a substantial amount of money.
Pasquale emphasised the potential for ICT suppliers, saying, “We want to see what the ICT industry has to offer, and we’re seeking submissions from the best and brightest locally, nationally, and across the world.”
The tender includes six separate service packages, each with an initial term of either three or five years and the option to extend them for a total of 10 years. The packages are:
- IT management services: Includes assistance for help desk support, disaster recovery, and asset management services.
- Cyber Security Services: Focuses on the importance of protecting digital assets and proactively countering cyber threats.
- Infrastructure Services: Includes the management of data centres and databases.
- End-user computing Computing: Encompasses the supply of laptops, mobile devices, and the accompanying software.
- Application Development and Services for Microsoft Platforms: Focuses on the creation and maintenance of applications designed for Microsoft platforms.
- Application Development and Services for Oracle Platforms: Focuses on the development and support of applications that are built on Oracle platforms.
