Bunbury based architectural firm MCG Architects has been selected to design a $10.38 million performing arts centre and sports hall at Pinjarra Senior High School.

The new permanent facilities will be designed to provide much-needed modern facilities on site and create local jobs.

The performing arts centre and sports hall will include teaching spaces for music, drama and dance including a green room, music classroom and practice rooms, kitchen facilities, staff areas, secure storage, change rooms, student and staff toilets.

With the project now in the planning stage, construction is expected to be completed during the 2022 school year.

The project is part of the McGowan Government’s WA Recovery Plan and is expected to create an additional 37 jobs.

t from the jobs that are being created. The new performing arts centre will allow students to explore their creative talents and give them fantastic facilities in which to excel in sports. I know staff and parents will be thrilled the students will get to use this modern facility,” Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery said.

“The announcement of the local architect is the first step in building this much needed performing arts centre and sports hall for the Pinjarra community. As a parent, I know what a difference state-of-the-art facilities make on a child’s future which is why I was pleased to support their campaign for this investment in education. It is great to be part of the McGowan Government that values education in the regions and supports local jobs. I know future students and the community will enjoy this facility for years to come,” Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke said.
