Members of the Northern Territory Concessions Scheme (NTCS) and Northern Territory Seniors Recognition Scheme (NTSRS) can now easily undertake their annual renewals thanks to a new online portal launching today.

“Our seniors are extremely valuable members of our community and are one of the ways we recognise the vital role they play in our families and communities,” said Acting Minister for Seniors Paul Kirby.

“Taking the renewal process online makes the schemes even more accessible for eligible Territorians, and support is available for those who need it in person or over the phone.”

The launch of the easy-to-use portal coincides with the opening of the annual membership renewal process for 2021. Likewise, the new digital process is fast and secure and will replace the former paper-based form and declaration.

The Territory Labor Government has allocated over $21 million to assist eligible Territorians with the cost of living this year through the Concessions Scheme.

“$7.5 million is allocated to the Seniors Recognition Scheme, providing eligible seniors with a $500 prepaid card every financial year, recognising the valuable contribution they make in the community,” said Acting Minister Kirby.

As at 30 November 2020, there were:

  • 17,750 members on the NTCS; and
  • 14,817 members on the NTSRS that have been issued with prepaid cards in 2020-21

Members can use the online portal to renew their membership by visiting the New Territory concessions website. They must renew between 1 January and 30 June each year to continue receiving concessions and payments.

Existing members are being made aware of the annual renewal process via notifications and reminders by email or letter, with SMS reminders sent between January and June.

Members who are unable to complete the process online can renew their membership by visiting a Territory Families, Housing and Communities service centre, or by calling the website hotline.
