The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) is Australia’s national criminal intelligence agency. We advise senior decision-makers on serious and organised crime impacting Australia. We are a full member of the National Intelligence Community, a Department of Home Affairs portfolio agency, and a member of the Five Eyes Law Enforcement Group.

Business Systems Delivery (BSD)
Solutions and services are delivered by customer-facing, multidisciplinary digital information delivery teams which are supported by centres of excellence and a central coordination team.

The Agency’s operating model aligns closely with the models designed by the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) and the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) to build digital capability across the public service and support agencies to deliver services that meet the Australian Government’s Digital Service Standard.

The Project Officer role will engage with CIO Branch staff and representatives of partner agencies to assist the agency in delivering a seamless customer experience in a timely manner. The purpose of the role is to:
• Ensure internal and external stakeholders are engaged to support the successful start-up, initiation and delivery of ICT services and projects;
• Assist in investigating, costing, prioritising and coordination of initiatives, new proposals and associated briefs;
• Ensure collaboration and coordination arrangements are in place between stakeholders and program/project teams tasked with delivering projects through the Plan, Execute and Close stages of a program or project; and
• Assist in recruitment activities.

Some of the principal accountabilities and responsibilities include:
Reporting/Research
• Work closely with team members to measure, assess and plan initiatives to improve ICT capabilities, including gaps in digital skills, knowledge and services.
• Conduct research work and analysis to support the development of executive briefings, reports and plans to identify strategic and tactical opportunities for the Branch to improve ICT capability and culture.
• Monitor project and program reporting, including project budget management, through assurance activities.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and revision of the ACIC’s project management processes and procedural documentation.
• When required, provide a comprehensive range of executive and administrative support including records management, scheduling, coordination of meeting activities and secretarial services for governance boards.
• Coordinate workshops, including booking travel and accommodation for stakeholders via online booking systems, where required.
Stakeholder /Communication
• Provide advice, both verbally and in writing, to key stakeholders regarding project activities and outcomes.
• Engage with and develop effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders both within, and external to the ACIC.
• Liaise and negotiate with stakeholders, including applying tact, judgement and influence as appropriate to manage conflicting views, opinions and priorities.
Other
• Co-ordinate and participate in procurement and contract management activities.
• Reconcile invoices and initiate procurement approvals, where necessary.
• Represent the team at various forums, both internally and outside the ACIC.

Eligibility

This is a position of trust. The occupant must satisfy and abide by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission’s security requirements, which include Australian citizenship.

The occupant must also satisfy a rigorous security assessment by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency and is required to gain and maintain an NV1 clearance. In assessing suitability for employment the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission conducts a pre-employment screening process.

This requires the applicant to complete a pre-employment screening form for the purpose of character and background checking, and a psychological assessment.

At this time, pursuant to a comprehensive risk assessment, all vacant roles across ACIC’s National offices are advertised on the basis that full vaccination against COVID-19 is a pre-condition of employment.

Where a non-ongoing term is offered, this would be for a period of 3 years.
