The Workforce and Engagement Division (‘Division’) is responsible for frontline stakeholder engagement across all levels of government and industries and is increasingly focused on collaborative development of workforce strategies and meeting the recruitment needs of employers, particularly small businesses. The Division uses its unique position within each state and territory, its relationships and the intelligence it gains to inform strategic, evidence-based responses to labour market needs and to advance government priorities.
The Division has strong working relationships with providers, employers and industry associations as well as strategic relationships with other key stakeholders, including Commonwealth, state/territory and local government organisations. The Division has offices in all Australian capital cities and six regional locations. The Division works closely with our department’s policy areas and our service delivery stakeholders to implement the Commonwealth government’s range of employment, industrial relations and small business services and initiatives.
The NSW/ACT State Office manages the delivery of a number of employment and skills services and programs to assist job seekers and employers around the state and across Australia. These include the Local Jobs Program, jobactive, the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme, Employment Facilitators, Entrepreneurship Facilitators, Transition to Work, ParentsNext, Time to Work Employment Services, Employability Skills Training services, Career Transition Assistance, and Skills for Education and Employment.
The State Office also works closely with a range of stakeholders in the context of activities and initiatives designed to promote the assistance available to job seekers and employers and to identify new opportunities and innovative solutions to assist people in work. This includes working with service providers, other Commonwealth, State and Local government agencies, community groups and employers. The State Office also conducts research into the recruitment needs of employers and other labour market issues as well as analysis on the performance of programs and services.

The NSW/ACT State Office is seeking people interested in being a Delivery and Engagement Officer with the Regional Northern NSW Team. As a Delivery and Engagement Officer, you will work as part of a flexible delivery team involved in developing and implementing labour market strategies, contributing to regional place-based projects, monitoring and managing contract performance.
You will also represent and engage the Division across the Department with external stakeholders including employers, State Government agencies, local councils, non−government organisations and contracted employment providers, to collaboratively advance the Department’s business activities. You will also contribute to policy development, intelligence gathering and program design.
You will demonstrate a high level of productivity, resourcefulness, initiative and flexibility to deliver results as well as collaborate effectively with your peers and support the wider Regional Northern NSW Team.

The NSW ACT State Office has four teams – Southern NSW/ACT, Coastal Northern NSW & East Sydney, Central NSW & Western Sydney and Regional Northern NSW; and four physical local offices – Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle and Orange. The State Office supports the use of flexible working arrangements.
One position is currently available within the Regional Northern NSW Team, based in Newcastle. Some travel, including overnight travel, will be required.
