Strategic Contracting Branch of the Department of Finance is responsible for the establishment, implementation and management of a variety of non-ICT Whole of Australian Government (WoAG) strategic procurement arrangements. The Branch is also responsible for re-tendering of the arrangements. The arrangements increase efficiency and reduce costs for entities, and include:

  • Management Advisory Services: Financial Services, Corporate Services, Commercial Services;
  • Travel: Travel Management Services, Domestic and International Air Travel Services, Accommodation Program Management Services, Vehicle Rental Services, Travel and Procurement Payment Services; 
  • Motor Vehicle Leasing & Fleet Management;
  • Stationery and Office Supplies; and
  • People: Recruitment and Search Services.

The key duties of the position include:

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking high-performing and enthusiastic people to be part of our growing team to assist with managing large scale, complex contracts that support the day-to-day workings of Commonwealth entities.

As a Strategic Contract Manager of the Department of Finance, you will be responsible for:

  • supporting the administration of Whole of Australian Government (WoAG) panel arrangements, including performance management, reporting and pricing reviews
  • communicating with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate positive work relations and the resolution of issues
  • assisting in the preparation and coordination of draft documentation intended for a range of stakeholders including Ministers, Senior Executives, internal and external stakeholders
  • analysing data with the assistance of Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tools, or similar automated processes, AusTender and/or DS4P
  • identifying risks and management of contract risk register (and all other contract management registers)
  • representing Finance at meetings with external stakeholders.

Eligibility

Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated in the downloadable job pack. All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.

This recruitment process is being used to fill current and future vacancies. A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which can be used to fill future vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.

This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing. The role may be offered as either ongoing or non-ongoing subject to business needs and/or candidate preference. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled as a specified term vacancy for an initial period of up to 18 months.
