As the Director of a team of professionals that provides expert advice to the Board, consumers, governments and industry in both Australia and New Zealand, the successful applicant will coordinate the development and review of food safety standards and other measures addressing food safety.
The successful applicant will also coordinate Australia’s response to national food incidents and food recalls, maintain the National Food Incident Response Protocol and coordinate FSANZ’s relationship with the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources around imported food.
The Director, Food Safety & Response also plays an important and integrated role as a member of the management group within FSANZ. This includes working collegiately with other managers and external stakeholders.

In this role you will provide leadership and manage a section responsible for the following activities:
You will also work towards ensuring the support of consumer, industry and relevant state and territory agencies on matters relevant to FSANZ standards development, food regulatory and response measures managed by the section, and provide expert advice to Food Standards Australia New Zealand on food standard matters related to primary production and processing and food safety standards.

To be eligible for the position of Director, you must have a degree in a discipline related to food safety, such as microbiology, food science or environmental health.
