Performance Analyst | Australian National Audit Office | Information Analyst

$70,333 to $77,300 Australia > Canberra

Here at the Australian National Audit Office, we apply our natural curiosity and professional scepticism to explore and scrutinise how programs are managed and policies are implemented.

As a specialist public sector agency that supports the Auditor-General of Australia, our purpose-driven performance analysts keep the government accountable. Taking a deep dive into different programs and topics of public interest, importance and investment, we:

  • gather and follow the evidence
  • use our judgement to evaluate how agencies are performing, and
  • logically present our findings and recommendations in a report to Parliament.

Put your in-depth investigatory, research and written communication skills to work, evaluating and reporting on how government agencies operate.

As a Performance Analyst with us, you’ll apply well-developed generalist skills — like analysis, research and writing — to examine a variety of public policy and administrative issues. Have you ever completed a big research project? A performance audit is surprisingly similar.

You will live our core values of respect, integrity and excellence and do interesting work that matters — developing deep insights into the big public sector issues of the day, like Australia’s defence, cyber security or the COVID-19 response.

If you’re inquiring, analytical and detail-oriented — and believe in the importance of shining a light on government administration for the public benefit — we want to hear from you.  We are undergoing a period of significant growth, expanding our workforce and audit topic coverage. Keep an eye out for more opportunities at the ANAO over the coming financial year.

The key duties of the position include:

As an APS 4 Performance Analyst in our Performance Audit Services Group (which includes the Defence Major Projects Report), your role will be to (under the guidance of the audit manager):

  • undertake research, evidence collection, data analysis and report writing;

  • complete specific audit assignments as a member of a team, including research, evidence collection, data analysis and report writing activities;
