As a security advisor, do you understand security, security incident management and risk assessment processes? Does assessing threat intelligence, threat likelihood and consequence appeal to you?
If so, you may be what we are looking for as a Security Advisor in the Defence Security Division (DS Division) Directorate of Security Assurance (DoSA).
DoSA directly supports Defence capabilities and operations through the provision of protective security policy, advice and assurance, and validation of security practices and measures to protect Defence people, information and assets. We assess security incident reporting and support Defence stakeholders to respond, recover and learn from incidents.
About our Team
The work of a Security Advisor is conducted in a small regional-based team which undertakes complex and administrative protective security assurance activities and tasks in support of DS Division’s customer needs.
Defence business areas and defence industry entities that store and process sensitive and security classified information and assets are required to maintain a specific level of security for protection.
It is the role of the Security Advisor to support these customers to understand these security requirements based on risk, and implement appropriate protective security requirements, as required under the Protective Security Policy Framework and the Defence Security Principles Framework. Engagement with Defence stakeholders and other Government agencies is required to achieve this.
Our Ideal Candidate
To be successful in these roles you will be able to develop an understanding of the security threat environment to contextualise the nature and extent of security threats as they relate to specific Defence and defence industry stakeholders.
Ongoing liaison with intelligence and law enforcement partner agencies will support an appreciation of the changing threat environment.
Security Advisors may lead a small team, delivering security risk advice and assurance within a region. Security Advisors also deliver security risk management and protective security training to stakeholder security appointments.
Previous experience and qualifications in protective security, security risk and/or security incident management would be highly desirable. The ability to either hold, or attain and maintain a personnel security clearance at Negative Vetting Level 1 (as a minimum) is required. A Negative Vetting Level 2 security clearance may be a requirement in some locations.
Eligibility
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at ‘Negative Vetting Level 1’.
