Within the Department of Defence, the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) is the central vetting agency for most Australian Government agencies and some State and Territory agencies.

AGSVA is seeking highly motivated individuals to conduct personnel security vetting, support and administrative functions associated with the security clearance process and provide team leadership functions.

The roles involve the collection and assessment of sensitive information relating to a security clearance candidate’s background to determine their suitability to access sensitive and classified information, facilities and assets.

The role requires the following essential skills: 

• Ability to interpret and apply relevant policies, procedures and legislative frameworks
• Strong analytical skills in a security context
• Ability and accountability to meet timeframes and quality benchmarks
• Flexibility to adjust to shifting strategic priorities and risks
• Proven communications skills to provide advice and guidance to candidates, conduct interviews (telephone and face to face), produce reports and liaison with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to lead and mentor

Eligibility

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance at ‘Negative Vetting 1’ level.
