The Senior HR Advisor will work across a small team to support and build organisational culture and workforce capabilities to support the broader objectives of the DTA. This position supports the Performance, Development and Inclusion section and will work across the following areas:

  • Case Management
  • Work Health and Safety
  • Learning and Development
  • Rewards and Recognition

The Senior HR Advisor is accountable for providing advice and case management support relating to rehabilitation, performance and conduct matters. The role is also responsible for supporting projects or programs aimed at building employee capability through implementing learning and development initiatives including supporting the DTA’s Rewards and Recognition program. The Senior HR Advisor also provides support to ensure that the DTA meets its WHS obligations.At times, the Senior HR Advisor may be required to support the work of the broader of the section and HR team.
The key duties of the position include:The Senior HR Advisor is responsible for supporting and delivering sound HR advice to employees, managers, and senior executives. Specifically, the Senior HR Advisor is also responsible for:

  • The management of sensitive and complex case management in the APS context for rehabilitation, performance, probation and conduct matters including providing guidance and advice to employees and managers and keeping accurate case related records
  • Appropriately handle case related matters such as developing early intervention methods, impartially supporting employees and managers, and correctly referring to and apply policy and legislation
  • Proving timely, accurate and professional advice to employees relating to their employment conditions
  • Working with stakeholders and leaders to understand and set a strategic approach to resolve capability needs
  • Enhancing policy and guidance material to support a best practice approach to case management, WHS and development
  • Supporting the implementation of the DTA’s Rewards and Recognition program
  • Supporting the design, development, and delivery of learning and development activities, including procuring and managing contracts from external providers, providing advice to employees, administering and developing the DTA’s Learning and Development calendar, and managing learning platforms

Supporting the DTA to ensure that it meets it WHS obligations including but not limited to:

  • assisting with WHS incident management and investigations
  • identification of risk and determining controls for the mitigation of risk
  • management DTA First Aid Officers and Emergency Contact Officers
  • assisting with the management of outsourced services including employee assistance program


Eligibility

Security Clearance level required: Baseline (or ability to obtain and maintain).

The DTA may leverage a mix of assessment methods for this position, which may or may not involve an interview.

A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within the next 18 months.
