Governance Project Officer Local Government

$84K - $90K pa gross (plus benefits)

About the Role

 

Council’s Corporate Governance Branch are seeking a Governance Officer to coordinate and participate in projects which support the governance framework. A key duty of this role is the facilitation of advice and support regarding delegations of authority and authorisations including maintenance and quality assurance of registers, databases & webpages. The successful candidate will provide advice and assistance relating to application of legislation including the Local Government Act and any legislative changes or requests for legislative changes. As a requirement of the role, you will undertake compliance monitoring under the SCC Governance Framework including development of Local Laws. You will be accountable for the Ticket & Invitation Allocation Program, ensuring fair allocation in line with policy.

 

About you

 

You are degree qualified in business, administrative law, commerce, project management or a related discipline. Complementing your formal qualification is your outstanding analytical and problem solving skills encompassing situation appraisal, decision making, problem solving, risk management, and ability to analyse data trends. Your proven ability to manage projects and lead staff is essential to your success. Your interpersonal skills are unsurpassable with exceptional capacity to communicate via various mediums as well as negotiate and facilitate challenging conversations.

 

Candidates well-versed in providing advice to senior management on governance issues will be highly regarded for this vacancy. Experience in application and interpretation of legislation within government environments will also be highly favoured.
