NT Government launches digital transformation plan for service delivery

The Northern Territory Government is enhancing the delivery, convenience and accessibility of its digital government services with the launch of the Digital Transformation Plan.
“We want to ensure our digital services are the best, and most user-friendly in the country,” Minister for Corporate and Digital Development, Ngaree Ah Kit said.
“As the Territory moves towards a $40 billion economy by 2030, digitalisation to enable efficient regulatory processes will be a critical part of driving new investment.”
As more opportunities continue to grow across the country, the Digital Transformation Plan aims to streamline access to government services and reduce costs, continuing the NT Government’s digital transformation journey for the Territory.
Under the plan, the NT Government prioritises the creation of an online service portal that will act as a single digital entry point to access government services. The online service portal will be developed as a whole-of-government collaboration involving customers and agencies, along with expertise from the local digital industry.
The online service portal is expected to be a scalable and reusable digital service channel for all agencies, broadening the Can-Do Territory project.
Another key transformation priority is delivering a central digital identity and authentication process for Territory citizens and businesses. The identity solution will help speed the process of accessing records, reduce duplication by pre-populating online forms and secure important identity information.
The NT Government also intends to harness modern data analytics design and implement a strategic data management architecture and platform to improve their data management. A ‘Master Data Management’ toolset will also be defined and deployed for key NT Government data.
Aside from the new priorities, the NT Government will also be improving their current digital government platforms by maintaining modern digital architecture and platforms to enable effective digital solutions and deliver modern government services.
There will also be a focus towards customer experience and accessibility of digital services under the plan, with the NT Government moving to provide training opportunities for public sector workers to develop their digital capabilities and skills.
The plan is set to ensure that businesses and individuals have convenient online access in a secure environment that will make it easier to do business with the government, delivering economic and lifestyle benefits through efficiencies, ease of access and time savings.
“The Digital Transformation Plan is an improvement-focused plan that will deliver efficiencies and time savings both for those interacting with Government departments and staff delivering those important government services,” Minister Ah Kit said.
“The plan will also enable Territorians to build connections, reach their potential and succeed in a thriving digital economy.”
