WA Government releases first Digital Strategy Roadmap

The WA Government has published the state’s first Digital Roadmap, aimed at outlining the WA Government’s key initiatives in implementing the State Government’s Digital Strategy 2021-2025.

“The McGowan Government is committed to delivering modern digital services that all Western Australians deserve now and into the future,” Innovation and ICT Minister Stephen Dawson said.

“This new Roadmap offers WA industry and community an exciting preview into some of the convenient, smart and secure digital projects that are on track to be delivered by 2025.”

WA Government’s Digital Roadmap covers the four strategic priorities of the Digital Strategy:

  • better services;
  • informed decisions;
  • safe and secure; and
  • digitally inclusive.

Aside from these, the Roadmap also prioritises the supporting of digital foundations to illustrate initiatives that will future-proof the WA Government’s internal operations and ability to progress the Digital Strategy’s four strategic priorities.

The first Roadmap includes 22 projects and initiatives across 12 State Government agencies that are set to improve service delivery for Western Australian people and businesses.

Minister Dawson stated that Western Australia should be at the forefront of digital change globally and that with the release, WA Government’s Digital Strategy will accelerate digital transformation and improve its ability to confront challenges holistically.

“The Digital Strategy is ambitious and exciting. It will deliver the WA Government’s vision for digital reform, and progress Western Australia towards a more secure, sustainable and inclusive digital future,” he said.

The Roadmap, which follows the recent allocation and approval of funds from the $500 million Digital Capability Fund, will also be updated regularly with information on new projects and the progress of existing projects

The Fund was announced on 10 September 2021 to drive strategic and targeted investment in digital transformation across the sector and accelerate the delivery of the Digital Strategy.

The State Government will report on the progress of Digital Strategy projects and initiatives and make updates to the Roadmap twice a year.
