Stephanie Crowe boosts cybersecurity leadership

Stephanie Crowe will lead the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) following her appointment by the Australian Government. The ACSC operates under the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD). This leadership transition will significantly improve Australia’s cybersecurity and digital governance in the public sector.
Crowe has over 15 years of experience in signals intelligence and cybersecurity at ASD. She directs technical advisory and support initiatives for the industry and advances ASD’s cyber threat intelligence capabilities with her comprehensive experience. Her appointment signals the administration’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s cybersecurity against the rising challenges of cyber threats.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Richard Marles, stated, “I am pleased to see Crowe appointed to this important position. Her experience and expertise across the cyber domain sees her well placed to lead the Australian Cyber Security Centre at a time where we see Australian networks increasingly targeted by malicious cyber actors.”
Crowe’s leadership is expected to propel progress in critical domains, including artificial intelligence, cloud storage, data science, data analytics, governance, cybersecurity, data modelling, generative AI, and network security. Her extensive background in intelligence and cyber operations, coupled with her strong connections with global and industry leaders, equips her to adeptly address the evolving and complex landscape of cyber threats.

The ACSC serves as the technical authority for the Australian Government in cybersecurity. It enables organisations to collaborate with the government and implement security frameworks that protect information, operational technologies, applications, and data from cyber threats. Crowe’s appointment will propel these initiatives forward, establishing robust cybersecurity protocols to safeguard Australia’s digital infrastructure.
