Australian Government launches new online tool to help businesses

The Australian Government is launching a free online tool that will help businesses assess their digital maturity and digitise their operations.

The Digital Ready Assessment Tool will allow local businesses to measure and upgrade their digital capability by comparing themselves against their peers. The tool will also allow them to access government support programs.

The tool will provide great benefits to many businesses and continue the Australian Government’s efforts to strengthen the digital economy.

“This tool will help businesses understand what their digital footprint is and how it compares to that of their competitors,” Minister for Science and Technology Melissa Price said.

“This will give them much-needed insights into how they can become more digitally competitive.”

The tool is said to include advice and guidance that is important to any small-to-medium sized business seeking to learn how to use technology to increase their revenues, all the while securing their digital presence and processes.

“COVID-19 has shown us that Australian businesses that are digital-enabled are more easily able to adapt and are more resilient to change,” Minister Price said.

“It also showed us that digital-enabled businesses were able to bounce back stronger. This tool will help more businesses understand how they can benefit from small but smart digital improvements in their operations.”

By introducing the online tool to the public, the Australian Government will be able to help strengthen the country’s economy and grow it into a world-leading digital economy by 2030.

The Digital Readiness Assessment Tool takes 10 minutes to complete and will provide businesses with a report containing recommendations on improving their digital maturity.

Businesses that complete an assessment will be directed to relevant products and services, including existing grant opportunities such as the Treasury’s Digital Solutions program.

They will also be offered support via services administered by a Government-funded NGO website.

The Australian Government recommends that businesses use the Digital Readiness Assessment Tool annually.
